Abstract
These days, pollution of soils by heavy metals has become as an important environmental issue. These pollutants can cause the gradual elimination of beneficial organisms from soils that can lead to decrease of biodiversity which is defined as original condition for dynamics, self-regulation, balance and stability of soil ecosystems. Total metals concentration in the environment do not necessarily show environmental conditions such as bioavailability and toxicity because they depend on soil conditions. Recognition effective processes on bioavailability of metals can help in modeling and understanding the environmental effects of these elements in the soil. To investigate the influence of land use type on bioavailability of Cu, Mn, Fe and Zn metals, 116 samples were taken of surface soil Chitgar Forest Park in three land uses comprising coniferous and broadleaved forest and rangeland. DTPA and acid nitric extractable form of Cu, Mn, Fe and Zn metal form as well as soil properties such as amount of calcium carbonate, pH, organic carbon, were measured. Results of ANOVA analysis revealed that land use type significantly impacted bioavailable form of Cu, Mn and Zn; while Fe available form didn’t have significant differences between the land uses. On one hand, land use type affected soil properties especially soil organic carbon. On the other hand, the results of Pearson correlation analysis showed a significant positive correlation between soil organic carbon and some heavy metals which indicated the effects of plantation and land use type on the availability of heavy metals in the soils of these areas.
