History
The Journal of Geography and Environmental Hazards is a scientific-research journal in Persian and with an extended English abstract. After obtaining a scientific-research degree from the Office of Policy Making and Planning Research Affairs of the Ministry of Science, this journal publishes manuscripts, since 2012. This journal has also benefited from the scientific and cultural support of the Iranian Association of Geomorphology since 2018 and the Iranian Quaternary Association since 1400.
The Journal of Geography and Environmental Hazards has been launched due to the increasing trend of environmental hazards caused by global warming, population increase and industrial development, as well as the high degree of geographical vulnerability of Iran.
This journal is the first scientific-research journal in Iran that highlights the important issue of environmental hazards and tries to publish the results of researches related to geographical dispersion, geographical causes, management and planning in order to reduce the effects of natural hazards and prevent the occurrence of technological hazards.
Releasing Schedule
The journal of Geography and Environmental Hazards is currently published as a quarterly (4 issues per year). The table below shows the exact date of publication of each year's issues. The journal adheres to this schedule unless exceptional circumstances arise.

Digital Preservation Policy
Archiving
The electronic content of the journal is archived in two ways:
1) PDF format of the journal's content is accessible online to readers from our main server.
2) A copy of the same content is kept on another server as a backup. In case of any problem in the content of journal website, it can be made available online again within 24-36 hours from the backup server.

Indexing and Abstracting
The main information and abstracts of the manuscripts published in the Journal of Geography and Environmental Hazards are indexed in various databases, the list of these databases can be seen in the "Indexing and Abstracting" section.
Personal Archiving
All authors can archive their manuscripts immediately in their personal system or on their institution's website immediately after releasing on the journal's website.
Open Access Policy
The Journal of Geography and Environmental Hazards is an open access journal, which means that all content is available for free and at no cost to the users or their institution. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of articles, or use them for other legal purposes, as long as they are properly cited, without obtaining prior permission from the publisher or author.
This journal provides immediate open access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Ownership and Management
This journal is published by Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in cooperation with the Iranian Association of Geomorphology and the Iranian Quaternary Association, which is also clearly showed on the main page of the journal website.
Advisory Body
The members of the editorial board of this journal are prominent people in the field of subject areas included in the scope of the journal.
Article Processing Charge (APCs)
The Journal of Geography and Environmental Hazards does not receive any money from the authors for the initial review of the manuscripts. But the manuscripts that are accepted after going through the review process must pay the amount of four million Rials for the editing and publishing of the manuscripts.
Discounting Policy
The journal doesn’t receive any charge for submitting, reviewing and publishing manuscripts where at least one of the authors has an organizational affiliation outside of Iran.
Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as the publisher pays the defined budget for each published issue of the journal (according to the rank of the journal in the annual evaluation that is announced in the portal of scientific publications of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology), to provide the related costs including the launch and maintenance of the journal's infrastructure, the review process, and digital preservation of manuscripts.
Another financial source of this journal is the charge received from authors whose articles are accepted for publication in the journal. This source of income has no influence on the decision of the editorial board members.

This journal does not accept any advertisements.
Direct marketing
There is no direct marketing activity in this journal.
Plagiarism Detection Software
In order to prevent scientific plagiarism, the journal of Geography and Environmental Hazards compares Persian texts using the Hemyab scientific text matching system and Latin texts (Extended English abstracts of Persian articles) using the iThenticate system. All manscripts are compared before being sent to reviewers, and if the percentage of similarity is more than 20%, the manuscript will be returned to the authors immediately along with the comparison report.
Privacy statement
The names and email addresses entered on the journal site are used exclusively for the purposes of the journal and are not accessible for other parts and will not be available to any other person or organization.
