Abstract

The main aim of this research is to evaluate the intensity and risk of desertification in Khorasan Razavi province and to provide management solutions that are appropriate to the geography of Khorasan Razavi province using the DPSIR-M conceptual model. Therefore, first, the zoning map of land sensitivity to desertification was created with the global ESAs model, and then, using the risk model, the map and desertification risk zones of Khorasan Razavi province were obtained. The results showed that more than 30% of the lands of the province are located in the relatively critical to severe desertification class. In terms of fragility, about 59% of the lands of Khorasan Razavi province are in relatively fragile to very fragile environmental conditions, and about 7% have the potential of fragility, and if the situation worsens in terms of environmental conditions, this amount will also be added to the fragile class. The results of the desertification risk survey showed that more than 98% of the province's lands are in the high and very high desertification risk class and class, and only 2% of the lands are in the medium to very low classes. Suggested management solutions based on the conceptual framework of DPSIR-M and based on the opinions of experts, experts and executives as well as field survey and the results of study and executive plans, led to the presentation of six policies and 47 strategies and action plans. Therefore, it is suggested that the results obtained in this research should be investigated, studied and applied by managers and experts of executive offices in Khorasan Razavi province.
